PandaChef and ReciMe compared

ReciMe is the app for recipes from Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. You paste the link, and if the recipe is not written in the caption, ReciMe tries the video's audio and then the original recipe site. With 323,000 ratings on the US App Store it has the largest user base among recipe managers. PandaChef reads YouTube and TikTok links too, but only the text: the description, and on YouTube the recipe the description links to. The Android app reads Instagram links the same way, from the caption. In the browser, PandaChef takes an Instagram post as shared text, a screenshot or copied text.

The difference starts after saving. ReciMe turns the recipe into a shopping list. PandaChef turns it into a week: cooking days for the household, a check against the pantry, a list sent to Bring!, and all of it from a chat with ChatGPT or Claude as well. If saving is all you need, ReciMe is the faster app.

Where ReciMe is better

These points speak for ReciMe today.

ReciMe listens to the video, and takes Instagram links on every device

Paste an Instagram, TikTok or YouTube link into ReciMe and, when the caption has no recipe, the app tries the video's audio and then the original recipe site. PandaChef reads only the text on YouTube and TikTok, on YouTube including the recipe the description links to. If the recipe exists only in the video, you are left with a screenshot or cooking from the preview image. Instagram links work in PandaChef only in the Android app, and there too only from the caption; in the browser, which includes the iPhone, not at all. ReciMe built its whole app around this path.

ReciMe is in both stores, and a lot of people use it

ReciMe has native apps for iOS and Android, a web app and a Chrome extension, and 323,000 ratings at 4.8 stars on the US App Store. PandaChef's only native app so far is the Android one on Google Play. The iOS app is in progress and not yet published.

Groceries straight from the list

ReciMe's shopping list is sorted by supermarket aisle, and the app hands it to a grocery checkout for delivery. PandaChef has no retailer integration. Instead, the list goes to Bring! by export.

Where PandaChef is better

After saving, it keeps going

ReciMe turns a saved Reel into a shopping list. PandaChef puts the recipe on the week, checks the ingredients against your pantry, adds the list up across every dish and sends it to Bring!. On request the AI plans the week from your own recipes.

One subscription covers the whole household

Collection, meal plan and shopping list are shared, cooking days go to individual people, and family members you invite need no Premium of their own. In ReciMe a household signs into one account, and recipes and cookbooks can be shared; nobody gets a cooking day.

The pantry is part of it

A photo of your fridge becomes a pantry with expiry dates. Recipe ideas come from it, and what is missing goes on the list. ReciMe has no pantry.

Your AI assistant operates the app itself

Through the built-in MCP server, an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT searches your recipes, fills the meal plan and writes the shopping list. That happens in your account, not as a text suggestion in the chat.

Free without a weekly limit

9 recipes are free with no time limit and no payment details, with the full meal plan and shopping list. ReciMe limits the free plan to 5 imports a week and sells Plus after a 7-day trial.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save Reels and TikToks in PandaChef?

Yes. Paste a YouTube or TikTok link, or share it from the app, and PandaChef reads the recipe from the description. If a YouTube video links to the written recipe, PandaChef fetches it from there, with every step. The Android app reads Instagram links the same way, from the post's caption. In the browser you share an Instagram post with its text, take a screenshot or copy the recipe text. If the recipe exists only in the video, ReciMe reads it and PandaChef does not.

Can I move my recipes from ReciMe to PandaChef?

There is no direct import. Recipes that are online come over by link. Everything else goes through a photo or a screenshot of the recipe view, or through pasted text. The AI reads both, but you do it one recipe at a time.

How much does PandaChef cost?

The free plan keeps 9 recipes with no time limit and no payment details. The meal plan and the shopping list are fully included. Premium costs €4.99 a month including VAT, removes the recipe limit and adds the household. You can cancel at the end of any month.

Is PandaChef on the App Store or Google Play?

On Google Play, yes: that is where the Android app is. Not on the App Store yet; the iOS app is in progress. Until then PandaChef runs in the browser on an iPhone and is built for phones. If an app from the App Store matters to you, ReciMe is the better choice today.
